= The Ashen Veil = For centuries, the Ashen Veil has stood against the Ravenous Abyss. Where once they simply sought to contain its spread, now the Ashen Veil engages in a battle for survival. Founded by Klaus ru Farox, the Ashen Veil is an organization that specializes in hunting demons using the martial forms created by the Monk (A.K.A. He Who Held the World). In recent decades they have come out of the shadows and have begun recruiting across the Cosmic Stack. Their words vincere anima mea (win my soul) hold a double meaning. For the Veil, it reminds them that their warrior’s spirit will carry them through any darkness. For the demons, it is a challenge. Any land, life, or even blade of grass must be earned. The Ashen Veil makes sure the cost is higher than most demons can pay… === Leadership === The Ashen Veil is led by its founder: Klaus ru Farox. It is the great demon hunter’s wisdom that guides the Veil in its operations. Below Farox are the Scars. Each Scar is given command over a part of the Ashen Veil. Often times Scars are senior members of the Veil who have achieved the status of Death Wraiths. Yet, there have been numerous times in the organization’s history where a young member has been inducted into the ranks of the Scars. They are usually pulled from the ranks of the Slicers. Slicers make up the bulk of the Ashen Veil. Each Slicer is a seasoned warrior with advanced proficiency in a martial school of their choice. Often these Slicers are given a batch of Sweepers to mentor. Sweepers are the lowest official members of the Ashen Veil. They consist of members who have passed initial training and have begun their journey within the Veil. Finally, below Sweepers, are new recruits who are in the process of going through the Ashen Veil’s training gauntlet. === For Life === Once a person has passed through the Ashen Veil’s initial training, they are a member for life or until granted release by Klaus ru Farox. Many have tried to run from their duties but none of succeeded. Often times, it is not the Ashen Veil who finds the runaway first but the demons who find an exposed member. === Masters of Martial Combat === The Ashen Veil are masters of the martial school. Each Scar is considered an unparalleled master of at least one martial form. The Veil keeps many secrets on how to fold aether and utilize it to the fullest. For those wishing to become masters of a martial school, the Ashen Veil is the best place to start. ==== Invarsil Armor ==== There is no known metal or substance that has exhibited properties that can harm all demons. An alloy was discovered though that can provide extra defenses against demons. The alloy, named Invarsil, is a combination of iron, nickel, chromium, silicon, magnesium, and antimony. This armor is not expensive to make which is good for the Ashen Veil since a full suit becomes unrepairable after being sundered by a demon. Members of the Ashen Veil routinely must purchase new armor before returning to field duty. === Bird Blades === Sometimes the Ashen Veil will allow a person or organization to work with them for a set period of time. These individuals are nicknamed “Bird Blades” because they will eventually fly on to new places. Most often, these individuals train their time (sometimes their lives) for experience, training, and money.
