The Ire is the main defense of Pedaru. Within the woods lie the spirits of thousands of Tatakai soldiers who have sought to attack Pedaru. Any crossing of the Ire is thought to be suicide. Yet, over the years, many treasures and secrets have been lost within the woods. Those seeking fortune might occasionally venture into the woods. Most are never seen again. In recent years, Tatakai has begun trying to clear a path through the Ire to Pedaru. To the knowledge of Pedaru, they have had no success. But in reality, Tatakai has made exceptional progress. Despite heavy losses, large forces of soldiers can make it halfway through the Ire before heading back to Tatakai routinely.
