Overview
Fueled by a perceived destiny of reconstitution, Zell seeks to return to the glory of the old Clovian Republic. However, they are the heirs to the Republic in name alone. Zell’s centuries-long march of War has left many enemies in its wake. But what is not often recognized is Zell’s improvements that it makes to regions around it. After the fall of Clover, it was Zell who reestablished government and law across Ramesh. And while yes, Zell is a military machine, the nation itself is non-aggressive in areas that it has added into its empire. This leads to a fascinating cognitive dissonance. Zell’s actions have led to the death of thousands and yet for many they are as benevolent a leadership as one could ask for on the continent of Ramesh.
History
Nobody knows Zell’s exact origins. They know he was a Saint for one of the Material Gods that existed within the Clovian Republic. After the burning of Clover, Zell found his way to Caer Ortus. Once there, Zell killed the nobles who had risen against Clover in single combat. For a decade, Zell built his army. Around the continent, the Republic shattered into hundreds of city states. The centuries of progress, learning, and technology that rose thanks to the Republic fell with Clover. A darkness covered the land. Eventually, Zell heard about a warlord that was raiding Caer Bospora. Unable to bide his time any longer, the army of Caer Ortus was rallied and then marched to the aid of Caer Bospora. Upon arrival, Zell observed that Bospora was about to fall. Attacking into the flank of the enemy, the army of Ortus drove the enemy from the field. The people of Bospora rejoiced and offered Zell rulership over their city. Zell agreed to this. However, upon hearing this, many other city states saw Zell as a threat. Armies converged on Caer Ortus and Bospora from all over Ramesh. Upon hearing this the Material God called together a council with all his closest advisors and generals. Zell listened to their arguments through the day and night. Then, at first light, Zell spoke to his council. He told them that chaos gripped the remnants that was once a grand Republic. The people suffered under the weight of 30 evil. However, Zell would change this. He told his generals to send declarations of war to every city state within a thousand miles of Caer Ortus. They would fight them all.
