Not a solely elemental creature, Wisp’s contain fragments of a humanoid soul and are seemingly held together by the magic in the Gossamer Bore. They are described as blue, wispy, floating balls of energy with screaming mouths in the center. As is characteristic of creatures residing in the Bore, Aerakel Wisps are attracted to heat and will reach out with tendrils to consume it. Their souls are considered consumable with the SOUL DRINKER ability. Upon defeat, they drop WISP CORES which are valuable. While they seem to ‘speak’ in an unidentifiable language, one encountered and defeated on LIONNIR 55TH uttered the word “Keswic” as it faded away.

Reddish-yellow in color, these lichens can be found on rocks and on the antlers of the Gossamer Bore Heatbuck. The lichen is dense, with crystalline structures running through it like heat channels. The lichen bores into the rock substrate, hollowing it out and utilizing it as a furnace. There is a strange reddish substance, perhaps bacteria, that also occupies the open space.

Creatures of The Region

AERAKEL WISP POST-MORTEM: 1HB, UNDER 12SP, 1 ATTACK (Lightning DMG) Not a solely elemental creature, Wisp’s contain fragments of a humanoid soul and are seemingly held together by the magic in the Gossamer Bore.

GOSSAMER BORE HEATBUCKS: 200-pound elk found in the Gossamer Bore. Their antlers bare lichens collected from trees that visibly give off heat. They have dense, multi-layered fur with guard hairs for thermoregulation. They are observed to consume heat moss, smaller bushes and grasses, and berries. They appear to travel in herds.

Flora of the Region

HEATSTALK TREES: Heavily insulated trees possessing thermobark. Has a symbiotic relationship with ember moss.

EMBER MOSS: A reddish-blue moss that sticks to the sides of trees, particularly heatstalk trees with which they have a symbiotic relationship. They utilize Titanic Magic to draw heat from the future for use in the present. During times of great cold, the ember moss will retreat within the bark of the heatstalk tree.

LICHENS: Reddish-yellow in color, these lichens can be found on rocks and on the antlers of the Gossamer Bore Heatbuck. The lichen is dense, with crystalline structures running through it like heat channels. The lichen bores into the rock substrate, hollowing it out and utilizing it as a furnace. There is a strange reddish substance, perhaps bacteria, that also occupies the open space.

Places of The Region

Proto Base Camp

Dick point

The most western point of the island near base camp before having to cross a mile of ice to reach the other side

The Oasis

A small forest hotspot a little under half-way between BASE CAMP and the WESTERN CAMP. The first known sighting of Heatbucks was reported here. Heatstalk trees, ember moss, and reddish-yellow lichen can also be found here.
