The Vindicar are the greatest feat of magic ever done by the wizard Caerwyn. Using his magic, Caerwyn breathed life into metal. Doing so he created a new race of metal humanoids, the Vindicar.

Creation[edit | edit source]

Originally the Vindicar were created to be weapons of war. Caerwyn created them to be his army during his fight with the first Dorcha Arex. Over the course of many battles the Vindicar and Caerwyn fought side by side.

The Vindicar’s Sleep[edit | edit source]

In the final hours of the war with the Dorcha Arex, the Vindicar betrayed Caerwyn. The Dorcha Arex told the Vindicar a terrible secret. A secret so terrible that the Vindicar abandoned Caerwyn on the eve of the final battle. After hearing the secret, the Vindicar created vaults across the Prime Ring. They entombed themselves and their inventions within these vaults. Their stated intention was to sleep until the end of the world.

Madness within Metal[edit | edit source]

Recently, the Vindicar have slowly been awakening across the Rings. Treasurer hunters and programming malfunctions are thought to be the cause of the early awakening. However, the Vindicar are not what they were. Their minds have decayed over the centuries. Now must contend with their own madness.

Hatred of Life[edit | edit source]

Many Vindicar state that they simply wish to return to sleep. Although, amongst their madness, this appears to mean that they also must destroy all life. From the smallest ant to the greatest kraken, all living things must perish. An awakened Vindicar vault might quickly begin exterminating any surrounding life including the nearest humanoid settlement.

World Ending Implications[edit | edit source]

Apart from the fact that the Vindicar awakening might mean that the world is coming to an end, the Vindicar pose an existential threat to life on the Rings of Meropis. With access to highly advanced technology and a madness which makes negotiating with a Vindicar nearly impossible, the Vindicar are set to be unstoppable once enough of them awaken. A single Vindicar armed with a dark matter rifle can slaughter an entire village with ease. An army of Vindicar soldiers could level whole nations. Even the armies of Zell might find themselves stifled against such a daunting foe.
