Far from Ramesh, across the North ocean at the Ring’s edge, lies the Draconic Kingdom. On the island of Dav’ren Dock the dragons folded their wings and created a new nation centuries ago. Here the land is ruled over by the Metallic Dragons. With the lands swarming with dragonkin, its population is unlike anything seen on Ramesh.

Mistral, the First City[edit | edit source]

During the days of the Clovian Republic, the dragons founded their first city, Mistral. The city is located in what is modern day Trajana Major. However, the records say there was an incident. People in Trajana Major say the dragons began eating their livestock. The dragons claim that the people began sacrificing their people to their “false gods.” Tensions did however boil over and armies from multiple cities attacked Mistral. The metallic dragons butchered the armies, leaving thousands dead, before the humanoids retreated.

Realizing the danger to their people, the metallic dragons fled. Mistral was burned but that still was not enough. The dragons were chased off the continent until they found the islands that would become the new draconic kingdom.

Metallic Dragons[edit | edit source]

Ancient metallic dragons rule over the draconic kingdom. These six dragons (brass, bronze, copper, gold, silver, and platinum) are the only ones of their kind. When a metallic dragon dies, it is reborn somewhere on the continent of Ramesh. However, over the decades, the dragon can access memories from its previous life.

This is not the case with the chromatic dragons. Although once theorized to be two separate species that were the product of convergent evolution, the chromatic dragons are indeed related to the metallics. However, chromatic dragons must reproduce and lay eggs. Additionally there are many chromatic dragons that still roam Ramesh. These dragons hate their metallic cousins. They instead hide with their treasure hordes waiting for the day that the civilizations on the continent fall.

No Material Gods[edit | edit source]

There are no Material Gods in the Draconic Kingdom. The metallics believe that Material Gods are false gods. Instead, the metallics only worship the High Gods but know enough not to expect an answer back.

Peace with Civilization[edit | edit source]

The metallics hold no malice toward civilization. They have stated this many times to the countries of Ramesh. Their only wish is to be left alone.

New Mistral[edit | edit source]

Built next to the Vi’brekt Volanco, New Mistral is supposed to be almost an exact clone of the original capital. Buildings reach toward the sky with proportions meant for dragons. Above the skies of the city the Aurora Draconis appears in the night. With fiery reds and deep greens, it is like New Mistral was perfectly built for dragons.

Capital City[edit | edit source]

New Mistral is the de facto capital of the Draconic Kingdom. Although not officially named so, the metallic dragons reside in the city. From their perches they help to operate their society.

Hall of Scales[edit | edit source]

The death of a dragon is a tremendous event. To pay respects to the dead, the metallic dragons created the Hall of Scales. This large domed building is the final resting place for more than forty dragons. Six skeletons are the bones recovered from dead metallics.

The Immortal Flame[edit | edit source]

At the center of the city sits a burning multicolored flame. This is known to the dragonkind as the immortal flame. The metallics say it is a protective force which will give the dragons power.

Lower Mistral[edit | edit source]

Over the centuries the kobolds who have lived within New Mistral have expanded the city’s underground. Now it is thought that over eight-hundred miles of tunnels exist below Mistral. At this point not even the kobolds can navigate its lowest levels.

Outsiders[edit | edit source]

Few non-dragonkin have entered into New Mistral. Outsiders must be invited into the city. Although this does not stop the average explorer or thief from trying to sneak inside. This usually ends with an angry ancient dragon snarling in the face of the intruder.

Soar[edit | edit source]

Modeled after the Cliffs of Zephrin, Soar was built with flight in mind. Flying dragonkin make their homes on the many mountain peaks that make up the city. Those without flight may find it impossible to even cross the street.

Built for Flight[edit | edit source]

With thermals rising from the ground below, all sorts of dragonkin take to the skies. Many buildings have doors attached to their roofs. Additionally the city spreads out vertically, not horizontally. From the lowest levels to the highest buildings is roughly a difference of four-thousand feet.

Unique Intelligence[edit | edit source]

Certain dragonkin like wyverns live within Soar. However, unlike their animalistic cousins on the mainland, wyverns in Soar possess intelligence equivalent to that of a humanoid. They can speak, write, and think like a fully sentient person. Scholars are unsure why and the metallic dragons do not trust academics enough to allow them to run tests on the dragonkin.

Floating Pyramid of the Dread Hawk[edit | edit source]

Rising almost three-thousand feet above the ground is the Floating Pyramid of the Dread Hawk. This pyramid appears to be made out of pure copper. The pyramid is two hundred feet tall and is brimming with primordial magic. Scholars have yet to determine how exactly the pyramid levitates. However, the dragonkin pay the pyramid little mind. It is an interesting fixture of the city but seemingly of little use. The metallics have declared it dangerous and so most simply stay away.

Brim Talon[edit | edit source]

If looking from the air, it might be easy to miss Brim Talon. The city is half sunken into the swamp which covers the island. However, it is a much beloved sanctuary to many.

Swamp City[edit | edit source]

Brim Talon was built into the swamp. Its streets are canals that allow swamp water, boats, and swimming dragonkin to move through the city. Thick mangrove streets grow around the city. Vines can also be seen snaking up the sides of buildings. Brim Talon appears to be a city reclaimed by nature and this is not far off. Although the inhabitants would have it no other way.

Tharassian Boars[edit | edit source]

The main food source of Brim Talon are the semi-aquatic, three-thousand pound, Tharassian Boars. These massive creatures dive to the bottom of the swamp consuming every bit of vegetation in their wake. Despite their immense strength, the people of Brim Talon have become skilled at trapping the boars below the water and waiting for them to suffocate. However, if a Tharassian Boar ever breaks free, it is not uncommon for trappers to lose limbs or their lives.

Sunken Layers[edit | edit source]

Most of the city is below water level. Many buildings only have water entrances or are completely underwater themselves. A cave system dug into the soft swamp mud has also expanded the city into hundreds of underground tunnels. Everything from secret bars to criminal hideouts can be found in these tunnels.

Temple of Tiamat[edit | edit source]

To the knowledge of the dragonkin, Tiamat is the only Material God to have been once a dragon. Naturally a small portion of dragonkin wished to worship her. The metallics made a concession and allowed one temple to be built for her in Brim Talon. This temple is small. Some might consider it little more than a shed. But those who pray sometimes hear the whispers of the dragon mother.
