09/01/24 -- Downtime
Appearance
Downtime – Knewidi 35th, 715AR
STARRING: Andreas, Angel, Bee, Karina, Lavatera, Radovan, Seth, Storm, Zey… and more!
- We cut back to the Brigade with no supply. Citizens are frustrated and everything is tense. People attempt to steal other supplies to make up for it. As this is occurring, Zey, how do you deal with the citizens fearful for their supply?
- He attempts to convince them that we invested in a new project and will be receiving supply shortly.
- SPIRIT – One Six
- The Brigade is calmed, though some remain unsure. One recovery is lost as some individuals use it.
- Andreas gets to roll 9D6 for the Spy Network. We gain 4 supply.
- Seth heads to see Lavatera. As he passes through, there are not a lot of people who currently need medical attention. Most are around the bed of Lavatera who is pretty fucked up, Seth. She opens one of her eyes, smiling.
- “Oh… Isn’t this a surprise.”
- “No talking. Just rest up, I’m here to help.”
- “You don’t like to hear my lovely voice?”
- “I do. But, you need all your strength to rest up and heal.”
- “Mm. [Sigh] I suppose you’re right.”
- She leans back, cocking a smile.
- Seth gives her a kiss on the forehead.
- PHYS B1 – 5 Successes
- As you pull back and begin to help, underneath the makeup and stoicism, Lavatera did blush ever-so-slightly when you kissed her on the forehead.
- +2HP
- Bee asks if he wants to watch her put in the IV. He learns this through his Student School.
- “Oh… Isn’t this a surprise.”
- Bee heads to Karina's room in the Command Building. Down a series of halls and in a space that used to be Magions bed chambers, Karina has turned it into a place where she can receive people. Like an office. She seems to have already been expecting Bee. Bee looks into the open doorway like she isn’t sure if she is about to explode again.
- “I promise I won’t shoot.”
- “Look at you, can you give me a twirl? Wonderful! So much to work with. Do you wish the effects of the omen to be lessened.”
- Bee does, just for a bit if it’s okay. She wants to help Lavatera.
- “Of course. I can give you this boon for an hour. But, of course, if you desire to return, the door is open.”
- There is a pulse of power that spreads out from Karina, and wraps around Bee. She feels more lively. Bee does not know what a Dorcha Arex is but there is a natural intuition that this is a powerful emissary of Sin. It might just be in her very blood, but all Children of Sin can tell a Dorcha is important, and is connected to them.
- Bee asks if she has been to the Temple yet. She remarks that Sin’s shrine is melting but she put a pretty stone beside it to make up for it. She wanted to build something better for him someday.
- “We’ll see if we can correct that, at least in a way. Direct iconography and symbolism… that will fade with time. But perhaps other things can be made, enduring symbols, so that our Champion, our High God is not forgotten.”
- She pulls out a tome.
- “This is a book on the creation of lasting symbols. I don’t believe it would be prudent for you to attempt to learn sculpting in such a short time, but the design of a symbol to represent Sin, that is something that any of us can accomplish.”
- “I expect you to come and update me on your progress for our mission.”
- Bee says it will have to be good!
- “Whatever you decide, it will be meant to be.”
- Bee asks if she is only a Child of Sin because of the way she was made.
- “I’d like to think you would have been adopted either way. While it is true your lineage naturally inducted you into our group, we are the outcasts. The ones that nobody takes. And that, Bea Goode, fits you to a T. But really I think that being a Child of Sin is a choice, at the end of the day. Whether you are or are not, that is for you to make true. So are you a child of Sin? I ask you this question.”
- Bee thinks for a few moments, and agrees.
- “Even if you had said that you weren’t, I would have given you the book either way.”
- Bee notes that Karina knew her name just like Sin did, without her saying it.
- “It is a pretty name. I like pretty names.”
- Her face goes limp and falls open a bit. She embarrassedly thanks Karina for the gift and excuses herself.
- “And remember, before a mission you can always come here. I would love to give you a quick reading. Or, I suppose anybody else.”
- OOC: Anyone can travel to Karina’s room before a mission.
- 1: Sheer I on all damage rolls
- 2: All successes on a roll of your choice, as Karina either gives you subtle hints for how to best destroy during an upcoming mission– or one perfect reading. Perfect hint and guidance.
- OOC: Anyone can travel to Karina’s room before a mission.
- Bee heads to Lavatera again to help heal her, and stares off into space. She doesn’t know what being a lesbian is but she is sure going to figure it out.
- Angel is working at the medical tent, likely not helping Lavatera since Bee has that. Zey would like to see them.
- “I had a gift for you.”
- NOW PLAYING: MOLDY OLD WORLD
- “I would like to apologize. Instead of talking to a friend and voicing my concern, I chose to demonize you guys. Life is a mystery. Everyone must stand alone. I never had friends, even before the Brigade. Akl was the first, I sent him to die at an angel's feet. One Eye Bren– I put a spike through his head so he wouldn't turn into an Impure and, of course, I left Unravel with Cordell and then Thomas whisked her away. I only had a quick conversation with her before we had to Endure. It was a goal to finish my Aether Realm, to protect my friends. I never knew my parents either, I didn’t get to learn what it was like to be loved unconditionally, and I was raised in isolation with the duties to become a blood priest. So Angel, I don’t know if I will experience real friendship. I understand if you don't want to be hurt anymore, but when I hear your voice call my name I will be waiting, even in the midnight hour. We can just sit back, drink shitty wine, and talk.”
- Zey hands over a box.
- “Oh. Um. Thank you, Zey. For what it’s worth I am sorry too. I really should have talked to you more, and I shouldn’t have been so angry with you afterward.”
- They inspect the box. Inside, it looks like the medallions in the third Dorchas tomb but the metal has been molded into a bell that does not ring, but along the ribbon there are a few pins of different shapes. None of them are the same. There is one that looks like a volcano, there is a church, a rose. They detail different missions.
- Angel goes in to hug Zey. Zey is startled, but hugs back. Zey suggests they could hang out later, if they’d want. Angel has some stuff to do but they’d be happy to hang out after.
- “I had a gift for you.”
- Andreas, during a break in his schedule, tries to find time to practice the Sky School. He hasn’t attempted to practice before, but he begins with the Swirling Wind stance. As he focuses, part of this stance is movement. Being untethered from the world around you, and your burdens. What is Andreas’ biggest burden now?
- The giant prophecy looming over him at all times.
- How can he, at least temporarily, detach himself from the prophecy? So it is not weighing on him.
- NOW PLAYING: AIR FROM THE SUNLANDS
- He focuses on a point, just one point, and he starts to try meditating and focusing on the actual form. In focusing on the form, detaching himself from the burden as he fights.
- PHYS – 5 Successes
- He certainly has the movements down.
- SPIRIT – 1 Success
- It is not your day. As you work, shifting from form to form trying to untether– unbind yourself. As you go, it is not working. But you press on anyway. Swinging. Moving. At some point, Andreas, you look down and you’re floating about 3-4 feet off the ground. You think you did it, before falling back to the ground.
- 2D6 – 5, 4
- As this happens, you think you could repeat it. You are able to unlock the first stance of the Sky School.
- “Huh. Well that’s… interesting.”
- He heads back and continues providing therapy to Brigade members.
- PHYS – 2 Successes
- The giant prophecy looming over him at all times.
- As he walks, you see something but do not fully register until fully seconds later. You witness Radovan Raze walking outside, face covered in blood, sucking on a severed arm. You stop, and are like, ‘that wasn’t right. That wasn’t right at all,’ but you keep thinking and, well, what the fuck happened?
- Andreas is going to go find someone to talk about that with. Zey, perhaps.
- “Hey Zey got a moment? Come on!”
- He pulls Zey toward his room.
- “Um. Cool. Uh, I just saw Radovan Raze eating someone's arm?”
- “Well that was quick for a release. Have you heard about Magion? I was hoping it’d take a little longer but obviously not. He was chewing on an arm? Well. I guess we have to figure out what arm.”
- Zey is upset about this.
- “Let’s go see if there is anyone missing. Or anyone missing an arm.”
- Angel heads toward the Command Building. Based on the reports received, you attempt to track down Radovan Raze. You find him in a room, he seems to be chilling out and reading a book, sipping on a goblet that is probably filled with blood.
- “Ahhh Angel. Welcome. How are you?”
- “I’m well, how are you?”
- “Better now that I am free of… well, all of that.”
- “I can imagine that’d be nice. Is this your new room then or is it temporary?”
- “Well, when you are as old as me, nothing is forever. But, the Dorcha was kind enough to bestow it to me– as a gift. At least, if I maintain good behavior.”
- He has not had time to decorate yet, but the rocks Bee gave him are here.
- Angel asks if there is any way they could continue training.
- “It would be my honor to train you. So, you’ve been studying the first form?”
- “I have been, yes.”
- “And do you believe that you know it?”
- “I think I know it well enough.”
- “Then as you take the form, what is the first stage of decay? What does it represent?”
- “Autolysis? It’s break down, isn’t it?”
- “That it is. Now what is the second?”
- “That I don’t know.”
- “It is bloat. The body grows fat, releases gasses and other things. This we must teach you next. Go, take your stance. I have taught you something defensive. It starts with the loss of your blood, but the form ends with the opponent losing all of theirs.”
- PHYS – 4 Successes
- You are not there physically with mastering the forms. Based on Radovans training you are still sloppy, slow, not operating at the fullest capacity. But…
- MENTAL – 3 Successes
- Surprisingly, you are doing better on the mental side of things. When Radovan stops, teaches, and tries to explain the process of bloat that sticks more inside your head.
- “Ahhh Angel. Welcome. How are you?”
- Andreas and Zey enter. Radovan supposes they have visitors, and gives a deep bow. Angel says hi. They exchange waves.
- “Andreas, did you want to voice some concerns to our friend Radovan here?”
- “Yeah I couldn’t help but notice you eating someone's arm earlier today?”
- “Ahh. Yes.”
- “Do you know whose arm it was?”
- “Uhh. Yes. Do not worry, it was not the blood of a civilian.”
- “Whose blood was it.”
- “I went to Magion and returned the favor!”
- He pulls out Magions severed arm. Zeys jaw drops.
- “Don’t worry, a God like him? He will regenerate it. And then I will rip it off again. Not because I am torturing him, but because I am hungry. There is a difference.”
- “Okay.”
- “But, in time I do hope to go beyond and see more of the Omen Weald. This is just a temporary measure.”
- “Okay.”
- “I promise, you have nothing to worry about.”
- Zey will worry a little bit.
- “I suppose that is wise then. Never fully trust.”
- “We are not going to do that to a town again, Radovan.”
- “Hm. Very well. Then we will have to find, again, different methods.”
- He lofts the arm for a second, and takes another bite.
- “Okay, I guess that answers that question.”
- “Ah. Angel, you can study the process of decay and rot on this. It might just be starting to bloat.”
- He tosses the severed arm to you, Angel.
- “Yeah I couldn’t help but notice you eating someone's arm earlier today?”
- Angel catches it out of reflex and then jumps, holding it away from them. They nod.
- “Right. It’s not going to do anything to me, is it? Being a Material God's arm and all..?”
- “No. It’s dead. You have nothing to worry about.”
- “Zey, would you like any training? Or help with blood? I am a local expert, though.”
- “I have my own ways of studying, I don’t need your help.”
- “As you wish.”
- Zey and Andreas depart, giving a quick goodbye to Angel. Angel asks if he can speak to Andreas in a bit.
- “Andreas, did you want to voice some concerns to our friend Radovan here?”
- Zey gets four feet down the hallway before punching into the wall as hard as he can.
- “We cannot have him feeding off a Material God.”
- “Yeah… he would probably like a trade. Obviously he wants to get blood somehow.”
- “We cannot have him feeding off a Material God.”
- Storm heads to see Karina. You find that the door is open, and you seem to be expected. Storm walks in with papers and files.
- “Hello Storm.”
- “Hello ma’am, I have some files– information, with the Brigade. Past missions, upcoming missions. I understand you are a bit of a diviner so this might fill in some blanks if there are any that you miss.”
- “Thank you, Storm, I appreciate that. Can you set them down here? And just for my own benefice, what do you think I need to pay most attention to? This Brigade has many problems.”
- “Magion did good getting us to an island of security, we have plenty of supplies and we are comfortable for the time being. I think right now there is a lot of strain on the leadership. I think that needs to be… I think that is
- something we can all work on together. But, I think with a power shift such as this, there will be… more strain. I think that the Brigade itself deserves to know more of what is going on. Have somewhat of a voice. I think it is more political and social.”
- “Would it best be done through a speech? A pamphlet? I would agree that openness is something that this Brigade could do with now.”
- “There are plans, there should be a file in here for a public forum that will hopefully be worked on soon. Maybe a show of good faith for you to come and speak to the masses once that’s completed?”
- “I would very much like to do this. In fact, please, tell any and everyone that my door is open. I wish to talk. I wish to meet them.”
- “I will do so. Unless there’s anything else you needed from me, I have some other business to attend to.”
- “I do have a question for you. Do you think that they will ever trust us? That there is anything that we can do to illicit peace? Even momentarily?”
- “Who is us?”
- “The Children of Sin. At least the ones who are not considered ‘domesticated,’”
- “You’re the diviner.”
- “Your opinion matters. I can see many things, many possibilities. The more I know, the more I can rule out certain possibilities. I see futures where we all grow together and we become great friends, allies, champions. I see other futures where… Thomas Blythe rips my head off. And members of the Brigade slaughter Bee and Zey and Charon. Radovan is thrown back in the Friction Prison. It’s all not great. I hope for the former.”
- “I think you have an advantage on gaining trust. Radovan and the Ard Magos have a storied history.”
- “So do I. I have a rather tumultuous history with the Magos. Magion tried to bomb me a few dozen times. Poisonings. Killings. It’s been… Quite informed. Without my dear friend Oz, I believe I would have likely died many times over.”
- “Hello Storm.”
- Storm wants to call the Ard Magos to the prison. Storm walks to the front.
- “So. Power has shifted. The Brigade is ahead. Ard Magos on the backfoot. But that is where we are most comfortable right?”
- There is a cry of confidence and excitement. This is what some of these people live for.
- “I think we were a little out of our element running this Brigade, but now it is a return to form and playing in the shadows. That being said, I think we need to have a contingent of ideally 10 guards protecting Magion. I wouldn’t say Magion has enemies, but I would say some don’t like him. Some more brash than others.”
- “Sir– Someone snuck into the prison this morning and ripped off Magions arm.”
- “That’s great. Was it a werewolf? Well figure that one out later. That will be a rotating guard, as for everyone else if Radovan has not been already he will soon be released from here–”
- “I’m sorry sir. But Radovan has already been released, Sir.”
- “That’s great. Thank you. That being said, that is a major concern to us given our past with him. I don’t think he is foolish enough to do anything to jeopardize his “safety” within the Brigade right now, however I would like us to develop a census, a detailed report of everyone in the Brigade, something we can go check on weekly should anyone go missing or any rumors happen, those checks will then be done daily if possible. Should Radovan try anything against the Brigade, unfortunately we need to let him make the first move. There is enough distrust against us and us acting proactively will likely garner a lot of side-eyes and ostracize us further.”
- There are nods throughout the group.
- “Keep your eyes peeled and ears listening. Move in groups of five. Four or five. Not that I expect anything to happen, but then again we are, as of this time, not the most loved faction here.”
- The same guard raises a hand again, “sir, I’ve seen a strange moth flying around me for several days, sir. It is red.”
- “Make note of it, we will see if we can figure anything else out.”
- “I’m sorry I don’t mean to interrupt you sir but it is a strange thing. I am concerned about it.”
- “There is a lot of weird shit going on. It is disappointing to say the least, about the change of power, but everything does change. We certainly didn’t falter when Magion took a step back from running the Ard Magos for a time. There is no reason for us to have concerns now, other than what we’re usually worried about.”
- Everyone nods at each other. They are in agreement.
- “We, again, working from the shadows. Glorified towns guard for the time being. We just play it safe.”
- Some grumble at that.
- “Unfortunately we have to play the waiting game. But, hopefully Magion gets released within the near future. I don’t know. Not that things were normal beforehand, but… there is understandably reason for us to be distrustful of this current command. I think we have every right to be cautious. That is just how things fell. Figure out your teams. Set up your guard shifts for Magion. Let's get that census done as quickly as possible.”
- They let out a YES SIR and begin to break off.
- “So. Power has shifted. The Brigade is ahead. Ard Magos on the backfoot. But that is where we are most comfortable right?”
- Bee wants to bring her rat, Manatee, to visit the Rat Race lady. The meeting is with Jenel Ginset. It takes a bit before you are led into a small sub-part of the rat race building. As you head inside, there is a very prim and proper woman waiting in there for you. She looks over reports and things of that nature.
- “Hello Miss Goode. Please, sit down.”
- “Would your rat like some cheese?”
- The woman slowly opens a drawer, and pulls out three perfectly cubed pieces of cheese. They are offered to Manatee one at a time. She sniffs them and gobbles them up. The last one is taken and gobbled up in the crook of Bees neck.
- “Yes… So. If you’re wishing to have a good enclosure for your rat, having something with multiple layers is usually the best way to go. Rats are natural burrowers, and this one will want to burrow. Straw, saw dust, these things are all ideal. As for enrichment, toys, puzzles, things of that nature. Little Manatee is a smart one. It wishes to use its mind. Rats are far from dumb creatures. They have many different emotions. This one seems particularly fond of you. You seem to be doing an excellent job.”
- “You are a powerful member of the Brigade. I would not want you to compete. Nor Manatee.”
- Bee asks if it would be possible for her to use the track when it isn’t being used for races, in that case.
- She stands, pulling out some keys and opens a back door. She has a private way to the track. As you are led through, you come to the main track racing area. There are a few civilians rearranging pieces of the track. It is modular, so they try to change it up for the rats and the audience. The civilians are politely told to give her and Bee the room. She motions toward the track.
- “Let them run.”
- Bee sits down on the ground, setting Manatee down. She sniffs around like she isn’t sure what to do. They look back up at you. Manatee sniffs the track and steps around it, a little confused.
- With 2 successes, Bee tries to urge Manatee along. She takes a moment, and gets it. She bolts around. It finally clicks. Manatee is really making headway through the track, going quickly. She completes the obstacles in a loop.
- After three hours, she begins to slow down and falls asleep in the middle of the track.
- “It appears like your animal is tired. Let me know if you ever need anything.”
- +2HP
- Zey wants to study Lovedays blood sample. He gives a prayer,
- “I’m still trying to find your purpose for me. I am scared to flush some of the blood, that it might taint it or… empower the source. Or change it. I am working to fix that fear. I will grow, and protect the blood, and find your purpose for me. I will not turn to forces that want to destroy blood. I will destroy the virus.”
- SPIRIT – 7 Successes
- As you focus on this prayer... You feel a tingling sensation in your hands.
- Your intuition says you need two relics and likely some chalk. You begin to draw a ritual circle of some kind. You place the relics around. It seems like you will be sacrificing them.
- As you throw the relics down and begin to burn them, you feel a prick on your finger as a small cut opens up and a few drops of blood splatter upon the ritual circle. You wait.
- A few
- Long
- Moments
- And then
- You feel yourself become enraptured in energy. Swirling. Around. And around. And around. As, Zey, you start to glance around your room… and everything starts to fall up. No– you’re falling down, Zey. Far far down. As your consciousness moves through the Cosmic Stack pushing past dimensions left and right. As you move you feel this immense amount of energy around you. You sense Titanic magic, you sense battles waging across the Rings, and beyond. You sense incredible energies. But then you sense something else. As you land on something hard, an ephemeral bit of black space, as you look ahead of you. And you see… an individual. Hands parted. Holding up what appears to be a world. Two and a half spinning rings. And a planet. And, Zey, you are face to face with He Who Holds The World.
- “Ah… You finally made it.”
- “Thank you.”
- He takes a knee.
- “You don't have to kneel. That’s a dumb trope.”
- This individual shifts a bit, recentering the weight on their back.
- “How– how heavy is it?”
- “More than you can bear.”
- “What can I do to help?”
- “Make the world a bit better, I guess.”
- “All the wars, all the fighting– is that the weight?”
- “The weight comes from a lot of places, but yeah that’d help. It’d help. The day is coming. The day of Burgeoning. We all need to work together for that one. All of us. There are a lot of past wrongs. You want to know what the purpose of the Church is? It’s drifted a bit. It’s to remember that we are all connected. We’re all of the same blood, I guess that’s kinda been lost but you can’t blame people. It’s been a long time.”
- “Gotcha.”
- “We all have to make our sacrifices, that's true, but shedding blood to shed blood… That has never been my style. I know it has been others styles, but not mine. Seem like you’re carrying your own burdens Zey. Wish I could tell you it gets easier, it really doesn’t. They just kind of keep on stacking. You just get strong enough to keep finding a way to hold it up, though.”
- “It’s just hard to find the same ground as people.”
- “Mm. Yeah, well… hard to find the same ground but. You know, Zolona was right about one thing. It is easy to live under the same sky.”
- Zey smiles at that.
- “That is the easiest part.”
- “It becomes a lot easier for people, I think– one second, there we go– to work together if their eyes are looking up. Not looking down.”
- “To something brighter?”
- “Yeah. I’ll be honest it has been hard to hold this weight up sometimes, but when I see Ki and Claudia playing Bunker Mole or Bea Goode happily racing her rat, Andreas– I mean he is doing therapy now! It’s really nice. Brings a smile to my face, man. And the weight just becomes a little less. Or, really, maybe I become a little stronger.”
- “I think I understand now.”
- “I believe in you Zey. It is not going to be easy, but if there is anyone who can find a way to cure this… man, you got so much to look forward to. I’m sure it’s gotta be you.”
- “Thanks for giving me the opportunity.”
- “I didn't give you jack shit. Heheh. Nah. Everyone else did.”
- “They are my friends. I need to do everything to help them. And everyone else out there.”
- “Yeah. Isn’t that the ticket?”
- “Well. I think I have business to do. Putting a smile on peoples faces. Helping people out.”
- “Yeahhh I shouldn’t take up any more of your time. They weren’t looking this time, we had to be a little sneaky. Get out of here you little rascal.”
- You see those small moments. Fathers and mothers caring for their children. Those heroic efforts to save the lives of innocents. You see people coming together. You see the light in the darkness as you return back to the Omen Weald.
- Zey looks to his Torvian, and to his shield.
- “I will help everyone look up and see the light.”
- He takes a look at Lovedays blood. He wants to find out if she is a Nexus or not. The connection to where the virus is going. As you begin to look and flip through things, Zey.. your eyes go wide. You have a Nexus. And as you start to look through… there are structures here. Bits of information. Rules. Generalities that you think the virus begins to follow. Yeah… it has a real hard time interacting with pure Primordial energy. As you look through you realize, probably the reason they struck the Primordial Ring first and were attacking archfey is because… they are the hardest to take. The virus can get to Material Gods easily, the chaoticness of the Fey and Primordial energy movement makes it hard to latch onto. The Impure want a war of attrition. They want a loss of resources. They want to drain us. That is not what Primordial magic is. If they got the Tree… that is their greatest weakness gone. If you can harness it in just the right way… There is potential here.
- There is one small problem here. You think Loveday is disconnected from the big, important stuff. She is locked down now but… she is not an active Nexus in the network. If you were to find an Infamous, a Lieutenant, a Blossomed? An active Nexus? You would probably be able to get more of an idea of what to do. Belatrosh or Chimera's blood would have worked. You are close. You know that.
- Seth wants to find a normal wolf and… tame it?
- SPIRIT – 3
- As he is out, he fires up the drone and acquires rations. As you wait, you start to pick up on something. It takes until evening, but a beautiful wolf comes up and begins eating the rations.
- “Follow me, and I’ll lead you to the Promised Land of riches and glory, and a wonderful large pack.”
- The wolf looks to him, “I’m a lone wolf. I don’t need a pack. This here? This is my meat. Get lost.”
- It continues to eat.
- “Actually this is my meat–” he transforms, “and you will obey ME!”
- The creature profusely apologizes.
- “You will follow me from now on. Do I make myself clear? What is your name.”
- “What’s a name?”
- “I will call you…..there we go, I will call you Wolfgang.”
- “...okay? I am Wolfgang. What is your nah-me?”
- “It’s Seth.”
- The wolf has its tail tucked between its legs.
- “Don’t worry I’m not going to hurt you, follow me.”
- Seth leads him to his room in Widows Home, and shuts him inside.
- Angel bows and thanks Radovan, telling him to call for Angel if they need help settling in. They head off to see Andreas after dropping the arm off in their room.
- “Hey uh, sorry about earlier, I actually went to find you before that but you were off somewhere.”
- “Yeah I was trying to figure out whose arm Radovan was eating. I was training the Sky School and as I was coming back to my office… Radovan with an arm. Go figure.”
- “I’m not here for me or anything I was just here to check in on you. I was wondering how you were doing after seeing… Yvonne.”
- “Right. I mean probably about as well as I can be. I never really knew my mother so… it is not like I’m recalling all the fond times. But… [sigh] I mean, in some ways I’m… sad that she got away because we couldn’t stop her yesterday. In other ways I’m… I feel like if someone else took care of her then… I don’t think Bob would uphold his end of the deal. That makes sense. Not entirely convinced he will either way now with our relationship with him, but…”
- “I don’t know. Um.”
- “We’ll see. But, yeah. I guess I have a cat for a sibling now which is really weird.”
- “Yeah he seemed to take to you.”
- “‘S probably why. We’ve got another month. See what ends up happening. But.. how have you been? Obviously you’ve been training with Radovan.”
- “I have been, yeah, um. I’ve been… fine. I think. I’m mostly just trying to make myself useful since I tested into the school I’m in… I thought I would try to… You know, be stronger on my own merit rather than relying on what the Titans gave me. Zey taught me a little bit of healing magic actually so I’ve been able to help out around the medical tents.”
- “That’s cool. It’s been awhile since we’ve sat down and talked. Since the end of Operation Endure.”
- “Yeah. It’s been a minute.”
- Andreas apologizes for slipping into Therapy Mode™
- “Hey uh, sorry about earlier, I actually went to find you before that but you were off somewhere.”
- Andreas you watch as the Dorcha Arex walks into your office. Andreas doesn’t look up at the paper first,
- “Ah it’s good to see you– well I was going to say again, but that’s not true! Karina Khan?”
- “Yes. Andreas Wolfgang?”
- “Your patient unfortunately is hung over at a bar, or perhaps he ate bad food. Two possible futures, the bar is more likely though.”
- “That is unfortunate but I will probably see him again in the future.”
- “You will. He will come tomorrow between the hours of 2-3PM”
- “Thank you for the information. How can I help you today?”
- “I want to become a patient.”
- He raises a brow.
- “Certainly. It is open to everyone.”
- “I assume that more than any you might be one who could understand some of the trials and tribulations.”
- “Well… That is why I am here. To try and understand, and to help people. If you are willing to come and talk with me, I am willing to listen.”
- “Very well. How does this work? Do I tell you my life story? Do I… Tell you why I’m broken? What is the protocol?”
- “Well. Typically I like to start by learning a bit about your background. It helps moving forward, but usually we just discuss whatever is on someone's mind. What is bothering them. How they feel. Things like that. I leave it up to you. You’re the patient, you're the person seeking me out. If you would like to share your life story with me I am willing to listen, if you just want to talk about how you are feeling today or yesterday or any time before that, that also works. The idea is just to get to know you, and from there move on.”
- You’d watch as Karina makes a motion with her hand, out of some red mist that appears are two wine glasses. She pulls out a bottle of wine and pops it, pouring each of them a glass.
- “Very well. Let me talk to you about my bitch of an ex husband.”
- Everyone convinces Colin that they actually want to hear her complain. Everyone takes breaks real fast.
- “Ah it’s good to see you– well I was going to say again, but that’s not true! Karina Khan?”
