I Am G.W.Y.N.

From The Shivo Library

Historian: Caleb. Date: 06/03/2025. Season Finale.

TLDR – KT-G1 wreaks absolute havoc on us – Alphie and Anja are taken out (knocked unconscious), and Astranna should die, but is rescued by Newton, whose actual deal was to take the final hit if someone died. Alphie finds out some details about their illness from Death Bunny, and Anja is greeted by a mysterious entity that allows her to return to the battlefield in exchange for “endless more”. She draws in a fuckton of aether, though the aether leaving her is a rusty orange. Which could mean nothing. Piero saves the day by climbing into Gwyn’s circuitry to remove the Breezestone from her chest, and Jericho gives Gwyn a reboot. Gwyn uses the Revive power on Newton. But hey, we get some shiny new coats.

Combat begins[edit | edit source]

  • Order: KT-G1 → Jericho → Alphie → Gwyn → Astranna → Anja → Newton

Round 1

  • KT-G1’s big central eye begins to focus in on Alphie, and it moves past Astranna to get to them, though it swings at her for 32 dmg (sp). It then does 19 dmg (sp) to Alphie – Astranna gives a burst of psionic energy that moves off base just enough, letting Alphie move back before being bisected.
  • Its back begins to open up, and 10 heat-seeking kunai fly out of its back. It sends 5 each at Newton and Anja, barreling towards their throats. Newton takes 10 dmg (sp).
    • Each kunai success does 1 dmg, with Puncture 20 and Piercing – they ignore shield rating, and armor can’t be used.
  • It activates its execution protocol on Jericho – he watches as the eye turns completely black, and a cable of light fires from one of the arms, reeling him super close to it and whipping the cord up to slam him onto the ground. He leaves an indentation in the cobblestone, and as the tendrils of light expand away from Gwyn, he has to make another phys save.
  • He gets shot 50 ft up in the air, and it then fires an eye beam at him (30 dmg – ab). He goes up further, 100 ft, and she fires another grapple into the air (phys save – 2 successes). How does he avoid coming down on the chainsaw, which would’ve dealt 100 magical slashing dmg to him?
    • He tries to grab onto something and manipulate it to swing out of the trajectory of impact.
  • KT-G1 is building more energy, its fans whirling, a mechanical symphony starting to emerge. But that’s finally their turn. Jericho attempts Augury: “How do we restore Gwyn’s mind and personality to the state I have generally known it?”
    • He gets a vision of a broken-down robotic body. Wards across the interior mechanisms power down, no longer glowing with arcane protection. He sees something very strange… Dalton goes into Side 1.
  • Jericho calls out to the rest of us, “BLUE STONE IN HER CHEST. GET IT OUT OF HER.” He gives Alphie his bg action and then cowers.
  • Alphie uses Dream Warrior, attempting to summon Inora – but their dream warriors are summoned at random, and Fred is rolled.
    • “Oh! Hi Fred! Can you help us, please?”
    • “BATTLE.”
  • Alphie uses Cryomancer’s Grasp, and deals 14 dmg (sp).
  • We reach Gwyn’s turn, and find out that at the start of each turn, KT-G1 regains 25hp, and then 1hb if she’s at 5 or less at the start of a turn. She goes back up to full stamina. We find Gwyn in a jumble of memories of desires, flashes, images that move in front of her. She sees Astranna dodge back, Jericho in the air, her allies all around her, but it’s hard to maintain connection to who she is – to what she is – as one message keeps repeating.
    • Capture Alphecca. Capture Alphecca. Capture Alphecca.
  • At this moment, we begin her challenges. Each round, she gets a puzzle. She’ll have a certain amount of time on her own to solve this puzzle. If she solves it in time, she’ll weaken this current version of Gwyn. If she doesn’t solve it, the current version will get another turn at its full power.
  • She fails, and is given an option – she can try again, but if she does and fails again, there’s nothing else after. Or she can let us fight Gwyn as she is now. She chooses Gwyn as she is now.
  • Astranna attacks, dealing 4 dmg (sp). It’s healed on Anja’s turn. Anja does 3 dmg (sp) and uses Command on KT-G1 before backing up. Newton hightails it back a ways, holding his action with his fishing rod. Fred moves up.
    • “CHAOS.”
  • He uses his chaos action – Jamie rolls 1d6 (1). Fred uses the help action, followed by a tentacle attack (if able). He uses his help action on Alphie, and attacks for 6 dmg (sp).

Round 2

  • Gwyn tries to light chainsaw Alphie, but Newton uses his fishing rod to yank them back, and the attack only hits air. Gwyn looks upon Fred, and deals 32 dmg (sp). She then fires the kunai at Alphie and Newton, though they only succeed against Alphie on 6s.
    • Alphie takes 4 dmg (sp). Newton takes 6 dmg (sp).
  • The chest begins to open up, and we see this bright blue-and-green stone in the center be slightly revealed, as the wind begins to pick up slightly in this place.
    • “By the gods… A Breezestone…” (Newton)
  • She uses her Breezestone Blast on Newton and Alphie (cone attack). They both have to make spirit saves, which they fail. A torrent of energy impacts them both, and they’re both staggered until their next turn, as they begin to levitate 10 ft in the air. She uses Steal and Shoot to drain the remaining (18) sp from Fred, and blasts it at Astranna, who takes it on sp.
  • The Breezestone folds back into her, and Jericho mutters a prayer, before trying to shoot into the hinges/panels of her chest (12 sp). There’s a quick burst of light and spark – he’s added an extra minute for Anna on her next puzzle. He gives his bg action to Astranna, as does Alphie, who then falls down as their staggered condition disappears.
  • We return to Gwyn, who fails on the second puzzle.
  • Astranna tries to read the creature’s mind to find any shred of Gwyn in there, but all she gets is “Capture Alphecca”, even with the deeper probing. Anja attacks, and earns Anna another minute on her next puzzle. She reups Command. Newton yoinks Alphie back toward him, before dropping to the ground.
  • Fred rolls 1d6 (6). Target creature regains 1hb… no one’s lost an hb, so he uses it on himself.

Round 3

  • KT-G1 transforms both of her arms into cannons and fires a depleted serium (sic?) burst at Astranna and Newton. Both lose 2hb and take injuries.
    • Astranna has Det III on her next roll and is scared of Gwyn for the next 3 rounds.
    • Newton is blinded.
  • Something changes in Fairfield, the houses shaking and rattling. Runes appear all along Gwyn’s body as she uses Master of Metal. All the metal within 1/10th of a mile of us begins to rise up in the air, and she sends it at Anja, for… 12 dmg (1ab). She then sends kunai attacks at Jericho and Anja.
  • Gwyn solves her third puzzle! She starts to hold back routines and mantras in her mind, body, systems. Until her next turn, we’re fighting the depowered Gwyn – her self-repair is only 5 sp at the start of her own turn, among other things. We see the robot grow more sluggish, less fluid in her movements.
  • Astranna manages to create a weak wall of fire to try to block Gwyn from Alphie. Anja targets the hinges again, dealing 9 dmg (sp), her dmg seeming to be more effective. Anna gets another minute. She reapplies Gwyn.
  • On Newton’s turn, inside, Gwyn hears him call out.
    • “Gwyn, Gwyn are you in there? I can’t see. Where are you?”
  • He’s blind and has been abandoned, but he attempts to make a fishing rod attack through the flame – 15 dmg to Gwyn at the midsection. Part of a hinge pops just a bit. He gives 3 minutes to her time. Alphie calls to Newton to come toward them, and Gwyn re-locks onto them. He tries to follow the sound of their voice.
  • Fred rolls a 2. Jericho regains sp equal to his character level.

Round 4

  • Alphie is grappled through a wall of fire, though their sr blocks it. They use the last of their sp to block two chainsaw attacks, but almost die to Gwyn’s kunai – they increase their tor by one, thankfully, deflecting the 7th kunai, and only lose 2hb.
    • They are blinded, and their heels are cut, halving their power score for the next two days.
  • Afterwards, the chest opens once more, and we have to make a phys save as Gwyn summons a gale. Astranna and Newton fall prone. Jericho shoots her for 12 dmg (sp) and adds 2 minutes to Gwyn’s time. His bg action goes to Anja. Piero scuttles up to him, asking if he’s okay. Piero’s got his little swords, holding it in both of his hands, but they’re shaking terribly. Jericho reassures him it’ll be okay, and Piero says he’ll protect him. Jericho starts to tear up a bit.
  • Alphie deals 6 dmg (1hb). They slam their hand on the chest, releasing a pulse of cold, and the metal armor becomes more brittle and cracked.
  • Gwyn fails her next puzzle, and we watch as Gwynbot stands up a bit taller, seemingly having regained their prior vigor. Astranna uses her help action on Anja, and uses her movement to get rid of the prone condition. Gwyn gets an extra minute on her next puzzle, but is once more healing 25 sp every turn. Newton holds his action to try to hook someone out of danger.
  • Fred rolls a 5. He gives Alphie Surge II and Sheer I on all dmg rolls until the start of his next turn. Gwyn gets sick of Fred and chops through him. He explodes into a puff of bubbles. Alphie loses their last health block – they get struck in the chest and go flying backward, knocked unconscious.
  • Jamie successfully argues for a peace token, and Gwyn’s good nature momentarily prevails. As she sees Alphie get hit, she’s able to burst back forth, and her robot self goes to the depleted version, at least until her turn.
  • Gwyn uses lightning blitz to turn into an absolute beam of light, dealing 5 dmg to everyone, and ending up right next to Alphie. Jericho reloads his shotgun and gives his rerolls to Anja.
  • Alphie is unconscious. The world begins to flip, up and over and over until they’re standing in a misty place, looking up at the battlefield. As they look around, there’s a massive black rabbit sitting and watching them.
    • “You have one question.”
    • “What’s wrong with me?”
    • “You… you were cursed. A curse to take in the warmth of the world. It will grow exponentially until you freeze everything. Until everything is cold. That is what is wrong with you. Your core is forever hungry, forever craving, never to be stopped, never to be helped.”
  • We cut back to Gwyn, who continues to feel her friends, her allies, struggling. She fails her puzzle, and is still depleted until KT-G1’s turn. Anja loses 2hb – she loses a hero point, and creatures get B1 against her.
  • Astranna is attacked for her last health block… but we find out Newton lied about his deal. There’s a burst of energy flying toward Astranna, and then a flash and a cry, as Newton is in front of her. She asks him why, and he tells her he wanted to be a hero. She hugs him tight as he dies.
  • Anja loses her last health block, but Gwyn isn’t trying to kill her, so she goes unconscious. Astranna’s remaining 3 sp are stolen and fired at Jericho. Jericho deals 24 dmg to Gwyn (1hb), and her chest flies open, the blue stone appearing inside. He sends Piero to try and get it.
  • Alphie is still facing the rabbit. They get their second question.
    • “How do I fix it?”
    • “To fix what is before you, you must seek the heart of this place. What machinations brought you, what transformed you, what brought you, and you must repair it. You must become full. You must go to where your dreams die. You must head to where it all began. You must head to the lake.”
  • Gwyn beats her puzzle!
  • Anja’s dreams descend into somewhere strange. She is among a deep evergreen forest. She can’t see more than 10 ft ahead of her, as there’s a great amount of foliage, but she feels eyes on her.
    • “Ask and you shall receive.”
    • “Why am I irradiated in low magic?”
    • “You are the hope of us, of many. You have seen what we have not, and you bring us back our eyes. You bring us back our power. Ask and you shall receive.”
    • “Who are you?”
    • “I have watched you since you were a child. I wreath you in power. You are my magnum opus, raised to this point. But you bore me. Ask and you shall receive.”
  • Anja asks to be returned to battle.
    • “This, this I can do. A return. But at what cost? Are you willing to bear it?”
    • “What would the cost be?”
    • “More. More. Endless more.”
  • Anja agrees. On the battlefield, she opens her eyes, as something begins to flicker and change. The rest of us feel something new swelling, a deep power and energy that we haven’t felt before, but it’s originating from Anja. All of us see the world begin to crack as aether starts to flow from the ground. Into Anja, as she returns to her feet with three health blocks, absolutely dripping with aether, but as the aether leaves her hand… it starts off blue, but becomes this tarnished, rusty orange color. She is filled with cursed energy.
  • Anja has an action and half movement, but no bg action. She uses her curse of shadow chains on Gwyn. She wants to push her cursed energy as far as she can go. She rolls a 1d100 (8). All her aether becomes rusty orange, and the chains wrap around Gwyn more and more and more and more. More aether starts to rise from the ground, and the skies start to darken, as Anja brings forth her accursed magic. The area around Gwyn begins to glow with this orange light and hue as Anja holds her in place.

Round 5

  • Piero runs up Gwyn’s side, holding his action for just the right moment. Gwyn begins to advance upon Jericho, but he watches as some of those chains begin to dig into Gwyn, pulling into parts of the metal… Gwyn is missing 4hb at this point, so he has to roll higher than a 2.
  • AND HE GETS A 5!
  • Jericho watches as his partner dives into the circuitry of Gwyn as she pulls back, ready to strike into him. He hears a rat squeak triumphantly, and there’s a burst of power and energy from Gwyn. In this moment, the light begins to die away, and Piero is launched out of the guts of Gwyn holding the Breezestone. Jericho reaches up to catch him, and they reach out for each other. He grabs his partner, and we watch as Gwyn falls down, unconscious, immobilized. At this moment, the battle seems to be… over. At least, he hopes so.

Combat ends[edit | edit source]

  • The GM asks if Jericho is attempting to go ahead and put the Breezestone back in – he is. He walks over, bending low, and Anja disperses her chains, though the impacts on the world remain. He places the Breezestone back into Gwyn’s chest, and there’s a swirling of wind, momentarily, as the form becomes more compact, and synthetic flesh begins to regrow. Gwyn wakes up with new memories in her head, as she remembers not only this battle, but some of what happened before. She feels it buried in her mind, but moreso she’s just looking at the carnage.
  • She looks around, and when she lays eyes on Newton, she’s just not able to look away. Astranna is still holding him, and shields him as she approaches, but Gwyn reaches out gently, tapping into the same drive her mother had to not let things go, and uses the Revive power.
  • We all see a light begin to emerge from Gwyn. The winds begin to pick up, the fan… not a fan, actually, it’s the wind caused by the Breezestone in Gwyn’s chest. She reaches out, and places her hands on Newton, placing the power into him.
  • Newton breathes, and the eyes come back. He looks at her, seeming confused.
    • “I had a wackity dream... Oh.”
  • Gwyn falls to her knees and cries.
  • Everyone takes a level-up, and their coats evolve.
