2/18/2024 -- Operation "First Maiden Mission"

- Session opens up with the Maiden greeting Charon and bringing her some tea. Letting her know that some others have arrived, more than she was expecting for the mission she has planned.
- She checks in with each of us, taking particular note of Bloom and asking if they have met before. She asks where he is from and Bloom says the Ring of Quelling, the fourth ring that's gone now, is where Ravisburg was (these names need spell checking), the Maiden is a bit surprised by this since that would have been a very long time ago. When Bloom mentions their other name Angel, the Maiden seems to know who he is now, noting how pretty and perfect they look and wanting to catch up about the new days and the old days.
- She says she was a gardener about 80 years ago for a manor belonging to her friend Oxel, a bugbear. She wants to check in on them if they are still there and perhaps there are emeralds there we could use.
- Talisman hangs back to speak with the Maiden about the Carnival of Knives. She says that there was the Tsar of Carnival and he had put a ban on all low magic, including the tiefling that lived there. Ivan Becksly, the Tsar of Ivandal, worked with the Maiden to try and stop the leader from imposing these laws. The man refused and challenged Ivan to a fight, the Maiden intervened to save Ivan and took as many tieflings as they could with them. War broke out and it was all pretty messy. Talisman then kinda walked out, leaving the maiden a little shell shocked after asking her to revisit those memories lol.
- Charon goes to visit Enola, outside of her/Lavatera’s cabin she sees a man outside shaking and looking towards his feet, he just mumbles and apologizes and is overall incoherent. Lavatera opens the door for Charon and tells the shaking man, Cornelius, to get a grip and that this is why his brother will never love him.
- Charon goes to Enola’s room and she is not doing so hot, kinda taking the just let it go and move on approach, noting her mom always finds new ways to ruin her day. She had expected the worst and got the worst. I get the impression that Cordel didn’t treat Enola with a lot of kindness, she didn’t even expect Cordell to be excited to see her again. Enola appreciates Charon checking in and they play some Bunker Mole.
- Thomas visits Philip to check in on how he is doing. He says he has been doing about as okay as everyone else has been. Thomas apologizes for not being around more and offers to help Philip make his bed of rocks.
- Thomas then heads over to Helmuth’s training grounds to train for a physical skill point increase which he chooses to gain after the session. He gained tired 2 for this session due to hellish training.
- Ki visits the medical ward for those affected by the Dark Star in Mace Cranes cabin, where she memorizes the faces of all the people there before going out to Helmuth’s training ground herself. She will be doing the martial school test after the session.
- Bloom visits Margeaux to talk about what has been going on in his head ever since the Dark Star showed up, and also about the reaction the Maiden had to meeting him. He catches her up on the visions with Neorax (needs spell check) and about the fourth ring and whatnot. Just dropping these bombshells on her and she leaves to take a walk lmao.
- Zey is Commander, Thomas is Marshall, Ki is Lorekeeper, Bloom is Quartermaster, Charon is SpyMaster.
- Charon upgrades the Spy Network, Sources so its +1 for each spy roll. The spies are put on propaganda, intel, and emeralds.Propaganda doesn’t pop off, we get on emerald and one intel.
- Commander spends one intel, the danger level is 2/10 and we should bring a cauldron. We spent one scrap for the cauldron.
- Quartermaster grabs a supply wagon, one whistler, and the binoculars.
- Marshall rolls 3d6 and we get a 6!
- During the travel to the manor, the Maiden approaches Thomas to ask how he ended up with the Brigade. Thomas tells her about his search for his sons after the battle at Berness. The Maiden shares about her own daughter and the tough situations she has gotten into too. Encouraging a positive attitude with things.
- We arrive near the Manor and Charon inspects the building with the binoculars, she notices that it's a little off, shifting and moving a bit.
- Ki and Thomas do some rounds and things just look overgrown, in the greenhouse particularly, but no signs activity in the area. Inspecting the greenhouse lightly Ki finds a book on medicinal herbs and plants. Might inspect it later for supplies.
- Zey asks Thomas, Bloom, and Koilos to take point with the front door of the manor. Bloom hears breathing on the other side of the door, Charon double checks this and hears it too but on the outside of the door. The door opens up with rows of teeth and it bites into Charon. Ki strikes the door while Thomas pulls Charon free. A coat of green blood covers Koilos, it is a horrible stench of rotten eggs.
- We decide to inspect the greenhouse and find five plants for sedatives Aloe, bluebell, Caraxa, Dyphadoid, and Elderberry. Using the book we determine the right order for making a cauldron's worth of sedative solution. Zey takes it to the front door ahead of us and ends up getting dragged inside with the cauldron. He gets hurt but the house does end up being put to sleep. +1 recovery from collecting herbs and plants.
- Living room kitchen first floor, second floor is guest rooms, top floor is the club, and the basement was Oxel’s office and where the safe was.
- Ki finds the door to the basement and sees that shortly down the stairs I find it is filled with stomach acid, maybe 20-30ft deep as this basement is deeper than I would have expected.
- We do two rummage checks, get +2 supplies, +6 scrap, +1 emerald but the rummages end up waking the house and we have to do a skill challenge out of the house. We succeed to get out (regurtitated out of its six petal roof mouth, it’s just like Bee) and leave to go to the greenhouse to make a potion to force the house to vomit.
- We succeed in utilizing the plant book to create the strongest vomiting potion as possible. When we give it to the house, it ends up vomiting all of its stomach acid and guts. It straight up dies lmao.
- Zey finds the safe containing the items we need and it has a riddle on the front. Bluebell was the answer and from the safe jumped out the corrupted Oxel who then chased after Zey. The Maiden tells us she will take care of it and gets her stomach slashed open, she then snaps the neck of the formerly known Oxel.
- She moves on saying it's not Oxel anymore and heads over to the safe. Ki and Charon take the body into the greenhouse and bury him there, marking the grave with a bluebell.
- In the safe we get +11 emeralds, one magical dagger with heavy 2 and accelerate 1, 2 Heal II potions +20SP, and 1 Phasing potion that gives you the phasing power for 1 hour.
- Bloom is talking to Zey and the Maiden asks who he is talking to. Bloom looks around and sees that they are already back on the boat, Guy and Kone (spell check needed) are there, it’s a whole new roster of people. The maiden says that the manor mission was the last mission, days ago, and they are currently on a scouting mission. Bloom's grasp on reality is getting really bad.
