Session 12 :) Lionnir 7th, 777 A.R.
- We begin with seeing Ms. Penderghast to update her on the pie. We arrive around 11 am, and Anja is the one to knock on the door. She opens, and asks if we’ve found the pie.
- We say no, but we say we found out what happened. We describe to her the dragon and the ensuing fight, but not anything about the faeries or whatnot. She doesn’t seem too phased by this, but vaguely disappointed.
- We promise her the money, and then we realize we left it at the inn. So we offer to bring it this afternoon. Dalton asks how much we’re giving her, and we panic and agree to discuss it Not In Front Of Her
- We visit the owner of Benny, and he says he doesn’t have the soap. We decide to take him to the inn. Benny is Not Pleased with the bath, and Jericho begins smoking again.
- Anja tries to scrub him as quickly as possible, and it takes about two hours and multiple tubs to wash him back to a ruddy blonde color. We have stained the tubs.
- Someone walked in on us, and seemed upset, but polite. We offer to clean the tubs and he politely, but firmly, refuses.
- We go get the gold, and Newton continues to be very, very, very tempted. We assure him that fishing is more fulfilling, but he disagrees and cites the immense danger he’s been put in. We point out that, it’s possible, maybe, potentially, that’s because of us and not the fish. Gwyn picks him up and drags him away.
- We discuss how much to give to Ms. Penderghast. Anja suggests 200, and Astranna says that’s too little. We - Anja, Astranna, and Alphie - agree on 300.
- Jericho and Gwyn disagree, and after a long discussion - involving a lot of math, insulting Newton, and more debate - we agree to give her 283 (200 plus Astranna’s share), and the rest of us will get 83 each (including Newton).
- We set off to give Ms. Penderghast her share, and she is SHOOK. Very very shook. She promises us a sunlight pie, and we tell her to remember to rest. She then calls to her husband that she’s buying a Mustang, and runs towards the stables.
- Anja and Astranna return Benny, and Alphie, Gwyn, and Jericho go to check on Kirval. On the way, Gwyn offers to give Jericho her share, but he turns her down. Gwyn extends an open invitation to give him money anyway should he need it.
- Anyways, we go to check on Kirval, and he asks what happened, slightly alarmed. He asks if the witch got us, and we say no.
- Jericho has Newton lay out his map, and Jericho asks where the witch is. Kirval circles the mountains to the north, and says she’s on the eastern slope. Newton estimates that travel is about a week long, and Jericho proposes buying horses.
- We ask Kirval if we can bring his horse along, and he offers a wagon (freight wagon, can hold up to 12 people) and a cow (can pull up to 5 tons) as well. We agree.
- As far as Kirval’s knowledge of the witch goes, he knows only that she cursed him, she has an orchard, and she was none too pleased with his presence. She was, however, fairly cordial until he ate the mid apple.
- When she cursed him, Kirval can’t remember any specifics about the curse except that it turned him into a frog, and he was told to “hop away.” He seems oddly eager to have us fight her, but we say we’re going to try to reason first.
- We ask what kind of merchant Kirval is, and he says tools and farming equipment. He mourns his opposable thumbs, and Jericho reminds him of the prehensile tongue. A few innuendos later, Jericho forcefully redirects the conversation. He asks whether Kirval would like to rest or leave immediately, and he would like to leave immediately. We agree. We discuss how many horses we would like to purchase, and eventually decide to purchase another.
- We ask Newton if he wants to say goodbye to his family, and he refuses multiple times. Jericho uses Note in the Sleeve, and he learns that Newton is beginning to be distrustful after being mistreated recently.
- Anja and Newton leave to get the gold, and the rest of the party goes to the stable to retrieve Daisy (the horse). Astranna attempts to pet Daisy, and while she doesn’t mind, she’s also not thrilled with the contact and pulls away.
- Also at the stable, Jericho inquires about buying a horse and eventually lands on a 9-year-old ex-working horse named Woolie. We learn he bleats… when we ask why, the stable owner says that he just does that sometimes. This is confirmed by Inquisitor. We just ignore the issue and purchase it anyway for 40 gold.
- Kirval is disturbed by the horse and wonders why we picked it, when it’s clearly had a stroke, due to its aphasia. We convince him to ignore it.

- On Anja and Newton’s journey, he asks if he’s really part of the team. Anja attempts to reassure him by telling him that he’s a necessary guide, both of land and of culture. He says that we look at him as though he’s a kid, and offers to find someone else to help guide us around. Anja stresses that we don’t want anyone else, we want him. Shannon is asked to make a spirit check, and although hero points are contributed, only one success is rolled. Newton only smiles, and says that it means a lot. He says he will tell us how he feels, but not yet. He doesn’t want to distract us from the mission. Anja offers to let him name (or, more accurately, Rename) the horse.
- When we come back, he decides to call it Fishing Pole. We agree that it’s a good name, and (slowly) set about re-training him in its new name.
- We proceed to the stables outside of town. This one is fairly busy, with a bunch of different animals milling about. We even see a camel.
- We tell the clerk we’re here for Ol’ Bessie, and he celebrates immediately and LOUDLY. As we look, we see a spider leg begin to emerge from the underground, and then eventually a cow head. Then we are greeted with a 25-ft “traveling cow” - this beauty:
- There’s a whole cow trapped in the webbing under its udders. Kirval insists he warned us by telling us it’s a traveling cow, but we remind him we’re not from here. He says we should have asked.
- Astranna and Henrietta marvel at the cow’s beauty, and discuss its large number of legs. When we’re ready to depart, Astranna is eager to drive. She doesn’t know how to drive. We agree to let her drive. Turns out, she has a lead foot and we rocket out at 50 miles per hour. Gwyn and Jericho are on horses (Gwyn on Fishing Pole, Jericho on Daisy), and look at each other with despair before following.
- We have a five-day journey. On it…….
- Anja makes a large scarf for Ol Bessie, including a button from Gwyn, and gives it to her. Ol Bessie seems to love it, and looks at Anja with kaleidoscope eyes and throws her head around and screams. Probably in joy.
- Astranna checks in with Gibby, and pets him.
- Jericho speaks to Pierro and describes his fear for Ol Bessie, and Pierro reminds him that this is how he feels All the time. Jericho concedes. Pierro then asks if he has any celery, and Jericho apologizes and promises to buy more in the future. He then reminds Pierro not to eat anything when we reach the witch, as she’s not very receptive to that sort of thing.
- Alphie asks the gibbit to make some string, and feeds him grass and new, unfamiliar plants. She then asks Anja to help her learn how to make friendship bracelets, and Anja readily agrees.
- Alphie then goes to source things from the rest of the party to incorporate into the bracelets. She gathers beads from Gwyn, fishing weights from Newton, the expertise from Anja, fish bones from Jericho (fashioned into beads with help from Gwyn), and [] from Astranna.
- Jericho asks Newton how to fish, and Newton shares his expertise. He tells Jericho all about the fish he knows, including the deeper-water ones that camouflage and teleport onto your face. He talks about the differences between fishing in rivers and lakes, and expresses disgust with net-users for everything except blink piranha (the teleporting fish described above).
- Newton describes his ideal fishing spot - somewhere that has it all. Fast water, slow weather, big fish, little fish, all of that. Jericho asks if he’s tried an ocean, but Newton reminds him that the only oceans are/is the floating ocean(s?).
- Newton and Jericho catch catfish, and Jericho learns how to gut them. Astranna gives Gibby some fish, and he IMMEDIATELY goes off in search of more. We have created something with consequences yet unknown.
- Gwyn attempts to fashion a tiny rat sword for Pierro using the Premium Quasit Scrap. She is asked to make a physical check, and gets 4 successes. She creates a rat-sized longsword with Sharp II (dmg rating 3). She then also makes a fancy shiny and golden fishing hook (also 4 successes!) with ALSO Sharp II on it for Newton.
- HEY AND APPARENTLY SHE GAVE PIERRO A CURSED SWORD??
- When she gave it to Pierro, he expressed excitement with a talking sword. Upon questioning, it asked who he was, but then said it wasn’t who it thought he was and refused to continue talking.
- Jericho warned Pierro not to be “the aggressor” in any situation. Pierro instantly becomes enraged, telling Jericho he hasn’t been aggressive at all despite the frustrations, and tells Jericho to “go smoke a cigarette”
- She then gives Newton the hook, and tells him to tell her if it talks. He IMMEDIATELY tells her that it talks, and talks to the hook a bit, confirming that he’s with the tattercoat knights. Apparently the voice gave an exasperated sigh and “hung up”, so to speak.
- Worth noting that the beads Alphie has and the buttons Anja has haven’t spoken yet. To our knowledge.
- HEY AND APPARENTLY SHE GAVE PIERRO A CURSED SWORD??
- Um so everyone shut up. So Gwyn comes to Alphie and Anja and asks if the stuff she made talks, and we say no. Then Alphie tries to talk to the sword and suddenly INORA APPEARS.
- She can speak, she can BE SEEN, she can TOUCH AND FEEL AND ALL THAT. She spoke to Pierro and Newton, and referenced the beads and buttons.
- Apparently she could see through the creations like windows, but when Alphie held the sword it felt like a door.
- Gwyn freaks out and says she doesn’t know what happened, and doesn’t know what the source is - her, her mother, Quasit, Alphie, what.
- She asks if anything weird has been happening to her recently and truthfully we Do Not Know.
- Oh and also i’ve been messing up my fish’s name since session one. Um. anyways.
- So Inora says she’s doing okay, and then asks if Alphie is okay. Alphie then collapses to the ground, frost beginning to cover her skin.
- She can speak, she can BE SEEN, she can TOUCH AND FEEL AND ALL THAT. She spoke to Pierro and Newton, and referenced the beads and buttons.
